In november and december of 2014 I got the chance to document what Travis Pastrana and his crew were up to during the filming of Action Figures – The Movie. I have to admit that meeting Travis and company was definitely a dream come true and one item ticked off my bucket list for sure 😉
Below, you can find a selection of the highlights from that trip. It was definitely an epic time over there at ‚Pastranaland‘ – thanks a lot Travis for the hospitality!
Session 1 – Thanksgiving 2014
The main goal for the first session in Maryland was to practice the big FMX tricks into the airbag, as well as pulling off various side stunts for the movie, the highlight being the jump over Travis‘ parents‘ house in a RZR buggy… yeah, you read that right 😉
Jolene van Vugt and Bruce Cook had their own ideas as well – check out the photos below to see what went down!!

The FMX part part of the session was focused on the ridiculously big and insane looking stepup jump – Travis and Sheeny were tirelessly working on new tricks. The main goal was obviously the Triple Backflip – a trick that Travis had been trying to realize since 2008. Sheeny sent triples to the airbag very consistently, while Travis looked a little more comfortable on double flip combos and rotational tricks. Since the weather didn’t fully cooperate, the airbag practice didn’t go as planned and the boys focused on some additional RZR stunts and racing in the meantime…

Session 2 – Christmas 2014
A couple of weeks after the main filming session for ‚Action Figures‘ was done, I was told that the next attempt at a big FMX session was going to take place in the days before christmas. The idea was to get some practice to the airbag and then to switch to an experimental soft landing that allowed them to land tricks and ride away, but at the same time gave them the option of bailing out and crashing relatively softly onto a 4 foot airbag landing. As it turned out, the setup worked out perfect and both Travis and Sheeny could land their tricks successfully!
