Rampage 2013

!! NOTE: since I have received a couple of requests from people who wanted to print Kelly’s Canyon Gap Backflip for their personal use and I thought it would just be a nice tribute to Kelly’s legacy, I have uploaded the hinghres file to my server for anyone interested free to use for personal use. You can download it HERE !!

In september 2013, I traveled to the Utah desert for the first time, to cover the Red Bull Rampage for FREERIDE Magazine. I accompanied Rampage rookie Kirill Benderoni and the 2nd place rider from the previous Rampage, Antoine Bizet (you can read an in depth story about the whole Benderoni experience in this blog post).
I was quite in awe when I arrived at the event site for the first time. The event building crew was almost finished with their work and I could see the infamous Canyon Gap and Oakley Sender for the first time with my own eyes. For a big Rampage fan like myself, this was both a dream come true but also a scary thing to see… the consequences of making mistakes at this event were huge. Fittingly, Cam Zink had stated in an interview a couple of days earlier that he liked the design of the new Oakley Sender and that if they put a lip on the highest point of the drop, he would flip it. Zink being Zink, he stuck to his word and thankfully he stomped it.
I won’t make this into a chronological article about what happened since everyone knows the details anyway, so this will just be a photo post with some info in the captions… enjoy!!
