My motivation

I study biology, chemistry and sports at the University of Bayreuth. I also work full-time as an action sports photographer. My favorite fields are mountain biking, snowboarding and cliffdiving. I couldn't imagine to experience a better combination of nature, adrenaline, creativity and pure fun! It's just a perfect way to spend my time, get my head refreshed and see things in a different angle - literally.

In my photographs, I try to stay as close to the reality as possible. I don't use excessive postproduction to alter the atmosphere of my surroundings, although I frequently use flashes as a contrast to the ambient light.

Awards and contest results

Being a competitive guy with a background in sports, I also have great fun taking part in photography contests. The highlight so far has been the first price in Germany's most important sports photography competition for youngsters - Wettbewerb für Sportfotografie (www.pcs-stiftung.de) - in 2007 as well as being in the national Top5 of Canon's Die Mission in 2007. In 2010, I made it to the semifinals of Red Bull Illume in the "sequence" category.

Equipment

I use Canon DSLRs and lenses, f-stop backpack equipment, Canon, Bowens and Elinchrom flash systems, Quantum Turbo batteries and California Sunbounce reflectors.
